Benefits of Massage
Benefits of Massage Therapy
Massage therapy can provide a wide range of benefits, and those benefits may vary depending on the type of massage, the client’s health, and the goals of treatment.
Some conditions may respond well to massage, while certain types of soft-tissue manipulation may not be appropriate for everyone. For that reason, it is important to discuss your health history, current concerns, and treatment goals with your therapist before beginning a session.
Always complete a health history intake and inform your therapist of any changes in your health, medications, injuries, or surgical procedures—even if they do not seem significant.
Massage Therapy May Help:
- Promote relaxation and reduce stress
- Support healthy circulation
- Reduce muscle tension, fatigue, and soreness
- Improve flexibility and joint mobility
- Reduce discomfort associated with tight or overworked muscles
- Support improved posture and body awareness
- Reduce soft-tissue restrictions and adhesions
- Support recovery following physical activity
- Promote restful sleep and overall well-being
- Support healthy lymphatic and fluid movement
- Encourage relaxation of the nervous system
- Complement an overall health and wellness routine
Individual responses to massage therapy vary, and the most appropriate techniques will depend on your specific needs and health history.
Massage as a Health Care Service
The State of Texas recognizes massage therapy as a health care service when it is provided for therapeutic purposes.
Massage and bodywork can offer many supportive health and wellness benefits; however, massage therapists do not diagnose medical conditions or diseases and do not provide medical treatment unless working within the appropriate scope of practice and, when applicable, under the direction or referral of a qualified health care provider.
We do not guarantee specific outcomes, and individual results will vary.
